THEMES

London Homeless>
Increasingly in this time we live in, we aspire to take pictures of beautiful people or people who have in some way had achieved some measure of success in life – and yet what I’m faced with, on a daily basis, walking around my neighbourhood is in fact the opposite-An increasing number of homeless people and people with serious alcohol and drug problems. In this zeitgeist of being pelted with slick and beautiful images I felt I should highlight these issues with gritty, real images of life.

East-End life and Fading London>
My family is originally from Whitechapel, an area synominous with poverty and has experienced vast change over its history. Growing up in London I have experienced with my own eyes the changing face of places, people and buildings due to many factors such as gentrification. Experiencing this and with various chats with members of my family (including with my elderly cockney aunt) I came to the conclusion I need to make a document of our zeitgeist before it fades away for good.
